https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/old-babylonian-clay-cuneiform-tablet-30-c-e9b43308e4?objectID=168531922
Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Babylon, Old Babylonian period, ca. early 2nd millennium BCE. A petite, hand-built clay tablet of a rectangular form bearing 13 lines of inscribed cuneiform text. The gently convex faces enabled the writer to carefully yet firmly press a sharpened stick into the malleable clay to create the intricate characters just before being placed inside of a kiln. Cuneiform tablets like this example give us a glimpse into what those in the past held important or what messages they wished to communicate. Lucite display stand for photography purposes only. Size: 1.6" W x 1.875" H (4.1 cm x 4.8 cm)
Provenance: private A.G. collection, Chicago, Illinois, USA, before 2000
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

#156582
Condition Report: Repair to small area of one corner, with chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Minor abrasions to body and peripheries as well as light softening to some cuneiform characters. Light earthen deposits throughout.»
